When Will It Happen? A Guide to Timing and Time Frames in Tarot Readings

There are a lot of ways to read for general timing in tarot.  For example, if you see The Chariot, The Magician, or the 8 of Wands, you know things are moving quickly!  Conversely, if you see the 4 of Swords, The Hermit, or The Hanged Man, you know things are stalled out.

But there’s a more accurate way to find times as well, utilizing the Minor Arcana (leave the court cards out).

For this method, we need to remember 4 things.  The Wands represent days, the Swords represent weeks, the Cups represent months, and the Pentacles represent years.

Once you’ve completed your reading, you can create a separate pile to the side to find out the timing.  For example, if a new relationship is indicated, draw a card to the side and read the timing that way.  If you pull a 3 of Cups, someone new may come into the querant’s life in 3 months.  If you then ask how long the relationship will last, and you draw the 4 of Pentacles, you know the cards are saying 4 years.

That’s it!

Please let me know if you’ve used this method or plan to in the future!
